No Greatest Without Worst

“Study, Support, and Struggle” is a short memorable term of education which has relation each other. Precisely, it belongs to people whose a hard desire for getting a great deal of great achievement. Most people offer themselves to catch what they mean time and time again, nevertheless the goals have not been pursued due to some risk as common. Same boat as me, I have a flashing light in my mind getting the highest reach being accompanied by some barriers which form me to give up, force me to back up, and forbid me to go up.

An achievement might have no deep meaning without studying hard. Hornby (1995:1187) states that studying is the activity of learning or gaining knowledge or such activity as pursued by a particular person. Most experts in all of the terms got their result by studying the theories first, hence they got the theories to apply as a result form of study. It means that studying will break someone’s mind to get the right way of getting the achievement. When being green, I was forced to study hard everytime on my spare time. No game, television, and hanging out for several time just for studying. It hardly release my childhood at that time, but I just closed my grumble front of my parents. Perhaps, that would be the only way getting the discipline at that time, now, and future.

Someone will live without fear if they have a lot of supporting condition around him or her. Hornby (1995:1200) defines “support is a help or encouragement given to someone”. When I said that I’ll never let my chance, either my parents or other people closed to me and stood on me saying “sounds great”. However, they never considered what is my eagerness actually. Nevertheless, a smile became a glum by the time they knew my goal of education. Knowing that condition , really it was a shocking surprise came closer to me which broke my aspiration down. Briefly, a support is a kind of education’s series whose the gigantic role inside of it.

Studying and support have not been complete without a struggle. Hornby (1995:1186) states that struggle means a very hard attempt to do or achieve a difficult something which has been a goal of achievement. It supplies a series of getting an achievement of education normally. I am a student whose typical failed in reaching the aspiration based on my history of education. Facing that failure, no word I can say without stuggle over and over as my recovery from my illness. Hoping a good destination will be on me at the future, eventhough I am in a doubt to step, struggling is the first put on my feet. Now I am reaching and hoping no more failure in my history of education by struggling hard. All in all, education without struggling is lame.

In short, a cronological of reaching a great achievement is able to study hard, get a support, and try to stuggle. Those parts of education can be matched as a result of what is our eagerness. As for me, after I was accustomed to study at the spare time and get the support though find some risk, I do hope with my struggle I can pursue my great aspiration later on.

Recommendation for Eka Pra Setyawati, applicant for Global Undergraduate Exchange Program 

            I am a vice dean of Teacher Training and Education Faculty ( FKIP)  Muhammadiyah University of Metro Lampung Indonesia. I am responsible to supervise and control the development of academic bureau  within FKIP. I have never taught Eka Pra Setyawati; however, I  regularly get a formal report of all students who have outstanding achievement one of whom is Eka Pra Setyawati. Accordingly,  I am willing to give her a formal recommendation. This recommendation is based on a regular report about all students who have extra ordinary academic achievement reported from English Department, Technical Support Unit (TSU) Language Institute, Students Service Department, and Academic advisor.

            Eka is a five semester student who is currently taking some courses to reach 160 credits when she graduates.  She is more than an undergraduate student for she has good achievement in English proficiency and spoken and written skill more than those who are in last semester in general.  Her curiosity exceeds the average wants of even her friends. She was born and raised in a remote area of a less developed region in East Lampung, and in the environment  where discrimination, inequalities, as well as injustice happen. However, she can exhibit her utmost attempt, and always wants to get advanced in everything so that she can promote her people to be a good civil society. 

            She is now an assistant at Technical Support Unit (TSU) Language Institute in which she guides, supervises, and teaches sophomores with English program.  With all of these aspects, I believe Eka will be capable of handling any inquires she has prepared as she gets accepted at UGRAD program.

            Eka is interested in cross cultural situation, literature, gender equality and emancipation. For this reason, I do recommend her to get accepted at this program hoping that she will return back to re-promote some knowledge she gained in US, to make Indonesia better particularly in the field of education.

Do you ever imagine the beautiful place to live? Every people has his or her own dream place to carry out themselves to the better life. Some housing have been built luxuriously and completely on a big city whose a sky-high rental price. But some people have other reasons to built their own house simply and comfortably on a small village whose a pretty view to see. And the latter one precisely belongs to my mind. I am eager to realize my future house as pretty as a palace and as suitable as my pocket. At the future, I will keep up living at my dream house whose not too big shape and luxurious, natural view, and kind surroundings.

An unluxurious house is not the uncomfortable house.

You may hang your walls with tapestry insread of whitewash or paper; or you may cover them with mosaic; or have them frescoed by a great painter: all this is not luxury, if it be done for beauty's sake, and not for show: it does not break our golden rule: Have nothing in your houses which you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful (Morris, 2012, Interior+design, p. 1).

This remember me to get a simple house but makes me as if in the castle of queen. Just with three bedrooms, a dining room, and a living room, already tightly held me spend my spare time in the house all day. Inside of my future house, I’ll put some furniture which become a complement of a beautiful house as usual. Just like a cupboard, a couch, wall accessories, and so forth. Although the shape and facilities of my future house are not as great as a castle of queen, nevertheless the cleanliness will equalize as over there. Definitely, not only me but also my friends will be attracted to step in my house due to those belongings that I’ve elaborated.

A green house will probably gives a heavy dose of atmosphere for its host even all guests who come in there. At front of my future house will be dressed up by a colourful flower park as charming as Keukenhof, the terrific flower park in Holland. Hence, it will be filled by a variety of flowers whose sweet smelling. Their smile and fragrance will greet me when I get awake and open a window in the morning. And the birds come over the flowers which make me be proud of my marvelous house. Those are wonderful flowerings around my nice future place to live.

The pleasantness of human being who live in a house will be able to be measured by the affinity of surroundings.

If I were asked to say what is at once the most important production of Art and the thing most to be longed for; I should answer; A beautiful House; and if I were further asked to name the production next in importance and the thing next to be longed for; I should answer; A beautiful Book. To enjoy good houses and good books in self-respect and decent comfort, seems to me to be the pleasurable end towards which all societies of human beings ought now to struggle (Morris, 2012, Beautiful house, p. 1).

As for me, as a social human being I need the splendid relationship with the next doors. Thus, it can bring me to give my hand all the time I can. So that the fellowship might raise in my neighbourhood which more complete the beauty of my future house.

In summary, I always dream my future house should be : first, it is as nice as a castle but not larger than a real castle in a fairy tales. It should be clean all the time in order many friends come closer to there. Second, it probably wraps me up with the fresh air from the green plants around the house. Something just like flowers whose nice fragrance which able to attract the flying birds. Third, a  good neighbourhood is another complement of the beautiful house in my dream. In conclusion, my charming future house must possess three kinds of things : simplicity, flowering, and surroundings.
